New cold weather look.

Image
An early morning -3 Celsius saw hats and scarves flying and a grumpy mum clearing frosted car windows. Autumn has packed its bags and opened the door to winter...a whole month too early. I so disagree and am thinking up ways of coaxing it back for a few more weeks ... Should I come up with no plans: at least Jess is ready and waiting! p.s: Jess was dressed with the scarf by our youngest. She was worried the wee "fluff ball" might catch cold... All I could do was catch my camera and try to avoid giggle shakes while shooting...

Cats like pink...?

Image
Jess knows all about the risks and perils of getting too close to the "ladies" when they have their art tools out...well at least I thought so. You may recall around this time last year she was touched by the blues courtesy of two little budding artists. Today I can't help thinking she was in thick of things. A Pink Panther rebirth? p.s: the pink substance is chalk and coming off nicely...

Snow and the week ahead

Image
The week-end came and left this chap in the garden swaying to the laughter of the girls. No progress worth displaying has been made on "Grandad's story" due to some strange virus which has made my youngest needing loads of TLC. Will be posting as soon as possible but until I do I will leave you with one or two pics of cats in the snow and a fun link (http://www.genderanalyzer.com/) posted by fellow blogger Jo Castillo . (Follow it and you find out if your blog has a male touch or that feminine je ne sais quoi !)       Oliver loved it, Jess  on the other hand was so interested she stayed curled up in a ball most of the day... Back soon with more graphite updates and bits and bobs.

Bringing a touch of blue to a black and white kitten

Image
School is most definately bringing out the creative side in my girls! The oldest has started sketching (not sure I even knew the term at the grand old age of 5) and the youngest is following suit. Only she is  bringing a wee bit of a variation to the word. She has gone in for animal art! Jess was her muse. I think it was her bemused look and little plea in her big eyes that brought my attention to her freshly coloured blue tummy and back paws. (She had been sound asleep on her chair as the artists were creating ...She knows all about her 9 lives!) The photo illustrates the left over marks . Jess charmingly (hastily) and elegantly (expertly) washed herself and magically found her silky snowy white fur without hurting the artists' feelings in anyway ...! (Must ask her how she did that.) Moments like this are priceless and just have to be shared. OK off to put pencil to Mellotex paper.

When iron will falters... because of a kitten.

Image
Sometimes iron will is just not enough.... and you really just have to go with the flow... I had finished my morning session in the studio and was on my way to grab another cup of coffee before sitting down to do some research for my new post when... Jess appeared... out of  a shoe box! Deadlines were plugging at the back of my mind, phone calls had to be made, research started, end of the month exhibition logistically sorted out, washing sorted (yep I work from home!), printers organised (that's another story), promotional material indexed, shipping forms understood, prints priced, emails answered, filing done (not too difficult to postpone I agree) but, oh no, the list was still not long enough to shoo (no pun intended) away temptation!  No... I had to pick up my camera!  I had to get this cutie-pie on film (card!)   The battery was nearly full (good), the card empty (excellent), the light workable and the subject (Jess) in full action.   I shot nearly 50 pics before she stopped,...

"Jess" cute kitten, new pet with the makings of a mascot.

The week-end has come to an end and before the week takes off with speed here's a little "in-between post" posts. - A post with a strong ohhhh loooook factor! This is our wee Jess. 6 weeks old. A wee cutie, a fluffy ball. She is the new addition to the clan.  The girls, as you can well imagine, are over the moon and so, I believe, is Jess. Kittens seem to adore the clumsy attention that young children poor on them, the over enthusiastic hugs and well meant over doses of cat milk.   Well, needless to say that my Mac's hard drive is pretty full of new (feline) pics, all of which of course will now need to be processed. There are also new drawings brewing at the back of my mind... Who could resist? I'll keep you posted. Her colouring is "bang-on" with Black on Grey on White's colour scheme...I will have to find a VIP place for her here. Thinking caps is on. Cheerio and sleep tight.

Easter week-end gone sadly wrong

Image
It all started I guess with the weather: snow on the daffodils did just not look right.   Spent the Easter week-end in Germany only to come home to find that one of our two cats was killed (in our drive way) by a drunk driver. He drove off the road...! Polite words fail me...  Gentle Tom (alias GT) was just that: gentle, kind and super affectionate.  He was my muse for this drawing.   Here he is in all is cuteness. When words are too frail and a little meaningless nothing speaks louder than what the eye can see.
