We've drawn Dinos....

Untitled and extinct

Mummy's going to draw a Dino!
Want to join in?

Before the end of my next breath there was action over-load!
Floury of footsteps, giggles, drawers slams, individual sketch pads found, pencils, pens, scissors and glue (?) brought out, a wonderful assortiment of shiny things glissening on the table top.
Beside the same table, standing to attention, ready for action; two beeming smiles.
The ladies of the house were joining me on a mission!

We joined in on Draw a Dinosaur day and had such a wild time (bad pun intented)
The ladies have done themselves (and their mum) proud with perfect creations and scenes from a world extinct.

Tomorrow I'm wanting to draw an apple.
Wonder if they'll be as keen!

Coralina: equine portrait

Coralina
Pencil on Paper
Sold

Coralina, this big brown mare is known for her speed, her braveness, her very good carriage skills.

Now Coralina is also known for her indoor presence.
Her portrait was drawn in time for the festive season and, I am told, has taken pride of place in her owners dining room. A great big thank-you to my new collector.

On Monday I will be drawing a Dinosaur.
Kim Santini pointed out Draw a Dinosaur Day.
I'm in!
A change in the old routine is much needed and drawing a dinosaur fits the bill!

However, right now (and for this minute only) I wish I had little boys with a big collection of the extinct beasts as opposed to a box full of long haired cute blondes!

Off to get me a Dino.
Have a great week-end.

Florestan has died

Florestan I
1986 - 2012

A sad goodbye to one of the most amazing (cheecky but still amazing) sires ever was said a few days after New-Year a few weeks shy of his 26th birthday

I first met Florestan I through working with and owning his offspring, this was back in the day when riding ruled my world.
I met him "for real" when we had our own private photo shoot in April 2010.
He was a star and knew it!
Oozing quality, even at the grand old age of 24, he charmed "the pants off of me" by posing, looking and showing off for the full photo shoot. Meeting him this way allowed me to create a classic head portrait with a twist. He was not like any other horse and felt that neither should his portrait be.
The fact is he lives on in thousands of his offspring.
This is how I first met him and how I will last see him.

Rest in Peace you big brown star.

And then there were two...

Here's the first unveiling of my Christmas commissions.
You have all been so mega patient and super understanding (thank you), the least I could do is give you a double dose.

Meet Hoppeditz (sire to Hurricane) and Erlander, two Rheinlander stallions (Rheinisch-Deutsches Kaltblut) from the Warendorf Landgestuet in Germany.

Both these g
orgeous equines joined me for a few weeks last September in the studio. Commissioned to draw their portrait in time for Chirstmas, my pencils eagerly took up the challenge.
No wonder: these are fantastic models.
Big eyed, loads of personality, mass of muscles and oozing charisma in over-load, they are every equine artists dream to render.

More stunning equines to come, stay tunned.

Another year in the making

Hello all!
2012 is off, 5 days into its 366.
At this end, the last 10 days have been filled to the brim with masses of family time, quality moments and bundles of cheer.
Taking a rest has been brilliant and much needed. A serious battery recharge.
As a result, I can't wait to get back to the drawing board and dust off the pencils.
Until my date with all my scribble friends, Wilbur and Bernadette next Monday, wishing you all a fantastic New Year ... filled to the brim with life.
